Shelter Animals

The K-9 Barrett Memorial Animal Control Facility serves the towns of Bozrah, Colchester, Montville, Salem, and the Mohegan Tribal property.  

For information about adopting a pet in the K-9 Barrett Memorial Animal Control Facility, please contact the animal facility directly. 

The Montville Animal Welfare Initiative, Inc. is not a rescue or a shelter. The Montville Regional Animal Control Shelter is for animals located in Montville and Salem.

Hours of Operation Excluding Emergencies:

Monday Through Friday | 8 am-4 pm

Saturday and Sunday | 9 am-2 pm

The Montville Animal Welfare Initiative, Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization beginning January 22, 2025.

The mission of the Montville Animal Welfare Initiative, Inc. is to provide a support system to the K-9 Barrett Memorial Animal Control Facility and adjacent towns.  The mission will also include being a resource for animal welfare education, fundraising, and advocating for the overall well-being and welfare of animals.
